Why is abortion funding more important than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic?

In my lifetime, abortion funding has never been more important. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated inequalities, making the existing restrictions on abortion care even more burdensome. This means that hundreds, if not thousands, of people in our state could be barred from receiving the care they need. That’s why we must come together and fundraise for abortion access. While Women’s Medical Fund can’t take away all of the barriers, WMF can ensure that the cost of a procedure is not prohibitive. Together, as donors, we can provide Wisconsinites with the financial assistance they need during this especially difficult time. That, precisely, is mutual aid; it is stepping up financially for those in our community who cannot afford the full cost of their abortion procedure. I’m fortunate enough to have a job right now where I am making my regular salary — now more than ever, I’m putting my money where my mouth is.
